I thought I would share a little bit about my injury recovery journey.
As many of you know, I have struggled with damaged shoulder tendons. After last's summer's Grimbsy try a tri, I went into full rehab mode. At that time, six months ago, I was in constant pain in at least one shoulder, at rest, while sleeping, sitting at my desk at work. I was under strict instructions to do nothing with the exception of walking and these very tiny shoulder moments. I must admit that I was not very optimistic about my chances of recovering well enough to do any swimming, let alone, some try-a-tris in the summer of 2014.
Six months later (almost to the day) I am very optimistic that I'll be able to join the group at the Guelph I race in June. Recovery has been slow but I have made tremendous progress. For the most part, I am pain free. This week I swam two very small sessions with no fins - freestyle and breaststroke - and suffered no ill effects. And today I did real pushups (albeit from my knees) for the first time in months. Doesn't sound like much, I know, but those pushups and pain free lengths in the pool have made me really happy. I'm not all the way back and I will continue to be cautious about my training but I am in a way better place than I was six months ago!
I am very appreciative of all the support and encouragement I have had along the way - my physio, Peter, Vy and all the other tri coaches, and of course, tri group members - new and seasoned!

Good for you, Tracy. Taking time off to recover is very difficult. I'm glad you are feeling healthy again. Looking forward to cheering you on at Guelph Lake again this year!
